Family office community

Singapore is building up the business family network with the Wealth Management Institute (WMI), Asia’s centre of excellence for wealth and asset management education and research, established by GIC and Temasek.

In partnership with the family office community and supported by EDB and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), WMI launched the Global-Asia Family Office Circle (GFO Circle) as the leading voice and umbrella association for family offices in Singapore and Asia.

The GFO Circle brings together a global-Asia community of family office principals, professionals, and service partners to collaborate and ideate innovative opportunities.

Family Office Development Team

In 2019, EDB and the MAS formed the Family Office Development Team (FODT) to lead and coordinate initiatives to enhance Singapore’s position as the global hub for Family Offices. 

In addition to building an environment that is responsive to the evolving needs of family offices, we seek to tighten the linkages between private capital owners and the local investment & innovation ecosystem.

Family Office Discovery Series

Organised by the Wealth Management Institute, this initiative guides family offices through Singapore’s investment and impact ecosystem, and connects them with communities of peers.

The Series curates networking opportunities with new and existing family offices in Singapore. It also facilitates workshops and roundtables covering a range of topics from private market investments to social impact discovery.

Family Business Network (FBN) Asia

FBN Asia is a regional chapter of FBN International, a private not-for-profit organisation representing business families in 65 countries across five continents. 

Based in Singapore, FBN Asia offers business families a safe space to learn from peers and experts, as well as to share best practices.

It also encourages dialogue about how to guide family involvement in the business, facilitate relationships within the family, and raise the awareness and importance of family business models in society.

Try out the interactive Family Office Skills Map, launched by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in collaboration with the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF), for a quick overview.

The Wealth Management Institute also offers certification for Family Office Advisors with programmes that draw on real-world case studies to prepare industry practitioners for supporting family office operations.
 

Global Investor Programme

Eligible family principals who intend to drive their businesses and investment growth from Singapore may apply for permanent residency through the Global Investor Programme (GIP) to spearhead the setup and operationalisation of their family offices in Singapore.
